Don't forget that there are opinions and there are opinions!

And opinions and fashions change with time with logic often skewed or not playing a part at all. Today lots of folks realise their progress or potential for progress have been greatly robbed/sabotaged by beliefs and customs that society once held to be the best for them. Well. so much for customs being superior to or to be preferred over logic.

By the way, the English poet-laureate Tennyson once wrote,

"The old order changeth yielding place to new,
Lest one good custom should corrupt the world."

P.S. Whatever some folks or math-haters may say, it is a recognized fact that mathematics is
"......the Queen and Servant of Science" (Lancelot Hogben).
Also, did you know that many properties of things in the universe are mathematically related in one or another? I am not surprised that Pythagoras once said that the universe was constructed in accordance with numbers. Later on, Kepler's belief in the truism of Pythagoras eventually led him to discover his (Kepler's) laws of planetary motion.
