Mike,

>>Forget that total sales on the internet are equal to the change that we find under the trade deficit's sofa cushions.<<

A few years back I was looking at the trade, current account, and other Flow of Funds reports. Mostly I was just trying to understand them better. I came across a set of numbers that I couldn't square no matter how I juggled them. So I sent an e-mail to the Fed asking for help. They pointed to a specific report that had a number on it. It was a sort of "we can't figure it out either bucket". I believe the number was over 50 billion. (g)
