Thanks for your valuable Asian input, Borb. Yes, I believe you have it right there. The index will rise but will cough intermittently before reaching 20k around April or May of next year.

The one new feature that is becoming increasingly interesting is the Yen/Dollar relationship. It now seems that if the yen is going to be sitting at around the 100-110 yen to the dollar, it is going to stimulate interest in the domestic stocks, as against the well known Japanese internationals. This could be a major input in believing that the Nikkei could climb up much higher in 2001 and 2002 than 20k.
