I see a woman place a newborn on a trash pile. Do I say that it is just her decision? Do I say that the child would be better off dead because she doesn't want it? Do I say that because she doesn't want it, she should be absolved of all responsibility?....Now, it is an hour before delivery. I see someone having a partial- birth abortion...Now, it is at 6 months, a fully formed fetus, with viability likely, even if underweight...Where does it become distant enough to be comfortable that it should "only be the decision of the woman", and that we are not doing something terrible by sanctioning it? The automatic assumption that society has no say in any of it shows that the slippery slope argument was true....
