I'd like to announce the IPO of Keana Ruth Walker, (pronounced Kay-ah-nah, meaning: pattern of an excellent friend) Keana was born at 2:10pm on Thursday, August 19, 1999. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 21 inches long. She is perfectly healthy and has plenty of dark hair. She was alert and awake for an hour and a half after her birth. Amazingly, Keana did not cry once except when she was first born and took her first breaths. I cut her cord, passed her to Karen, the strongest and most beautiful woman I have ever met, where she nursed for about 25 minutes. Afterwards, I held my firstborn, awestruck, for more than half an hour. She posed for a few pictures, but mostly she just quietly peered here and there, silently gathering first impressions of this brand new slice of eternity that God has carved out just for her.
Heaven help me.
