In the '80's there were all those copy protection schemes for PC software ... and then there were all those programs that appeared that allowed you to defeat them.

Copy protection didn't work very well for software, and I think it's less likely to work for digital recordings. How much copy protected software does Microsoft sell these days? As far as I know -- NONE! Bill Gates has come up with other methods for dominating the software industry.

If the software industry has not been able to come up with a copy protection scheme in the past 15 yrs, to protect software, then how can the record companies hope to come up with a quick fix in a year? (Maybe by throwing money at Bill Gates!)

Hey, if SDMI is successful, maybe they can license it back to the software developers! ;)
