Your post reminds me of some posts Steve Rogers and I made on another thread about a 'feeling' we each had. There weren't any definite items we could point to, but we felt the world's leaders were beginning to have private discussions and forming alliances that excluded the US.

Mahathir's proposals will seem very attractive to much of Asia. Japan wouldn't openly do anything that might offend the US, but IMO they would find an Asia Monetary Fund attractive. (I doubt it could succeed without them) Taiwan and South Korea would be cautious, but the rest of Asia would be very interested.

Mahathir isn't the only one putting the blame on the US, just more vocal about it.

Stitch - where are you? Are things actually improving in Malaysia as the news reports indicate?
