Jim: Probably because they're in the "quiet period" and, unless that person wants to risk being fired, they've been told not to say anything. My info is from four sources: 1. My initial source was "Animation Magazine" which had an interview with the President of Mainframe, Christopher Brough, under the title "Top Creative People in Animation". In it, he discusses developments in the industry and mentions that the company is planning to go public this year.
2. There is a preliminary prospectus filed with the BC Security Commission already. It should be finalized within 2 weeks.
3. I have received confirmation from the lead underwriter, First Marathon Sec. in Toronto.
4. The old parent of Mainframe, Alliance Communications, will also confirm that MF is raising some money and the Alliance will probably sell down the residual of their ownership because they need the money for their new TV Station venture (History TV, I think).
I'm certain it's going ahead, despite what you heard. In fact, the lead bankers (First Marathon) are clamoring for the deal to get finalized by the BC Security Comm because they're getting unsolicited calls from people to participate. If you have sources with either them or RBC Dominion or Yorkton, they should be able to confirm this for you. By the way, advanced reviews of some of the characters for the third season of ReBoot are great. Evidently, now that they don't have to cow-tow to ABC/US Standards, they're creating more sinister/darker characters and making it more of an action thriller. Given that it does so well with adults in prime-time on YTV in Canada and in the UK, they're redesigning a lot of the show. It's supposed to start in the fall, October or so. If you live in Toronto, they're going to debut their IMAX ReBoot Ridefilm at Playdium with the debut of season 3. IMAX has gone bonkers over the ReBoot ridefilm which is a chase between you, the rider, and Megabyte. All sounds great. |
