Well, I'm writing this on the girls' computer -- their new Micron which we are setting up here and debugging before they get to college. So with my computer in my study, and David having brought his home from college and set up in his room, and the kids computer in the library, and now this one on the dining room table (for the time beinig) we are a four computer family. And David is insanely jealous that the girls have a faster and more powerful computer than he has. It's a sweet machine. And I, for myself, am insanely jealous that they both have high speed internet connections right in their dorm room and I'm still working over a modem that won't run faster than about 15k because we're 15 miles out of town (such as town is) using wires that were strung by the old Inter Island Telephone company at least 40 years ago. And when PTI bought them out and Century Communications bought THEM out none of them cared about the people two miles down this dead end road to bother stringing new wire.

Sigh.

On the other hand, who else gets to use their computers while watching the whales running up and down the strait and listening to the sea otters slapping the water as they play in the waves and watching bald eagles circling with a close eye on our pets and chickens. (Not to mention being called frantically from my computer last week because an owl had gotten into the chicken house and it was, of course, up to me to chase him, or her -- how do you tell the sex of an owl when you are trying to shoo it out the door of a chicken coop with a broom while trying not to hurt it but also trying much harder to stay away from its claws and beak, which look VERY ferocious from two feet away in a room about 8 x 10 feet -- out.)
