How Does It Work?
Hotcaller has developed a new service that lets our members call, for free, over 50 countries throughout the world. The "Hotcaller" service allows any one with a computer (microphone and speaker) to call anyone in over 50 countries that has a telephone. This is called a PC to phone call. The called party does not need to have a computer, just a plain old telephone.
In order to make a free long distance call you must view a brief commercial message. For each message that you view, you will earn two free minutes of talk time calling from your PC to anyone with a telephone in over 50 countries..
If you want to increase your calling time, say to 6 minutes, you would have to view 3 messages.
The messages that you will view will be as interesting and relevant as possible based on the information that you provide in your application.
With Innofone, all we ask is that you view some brief, interesting messages.
After all it's a free call.
What Kind of Computer Do I Need?
PC compatible 486/33 computer (Pentium 75Mhz or better is recommended
Minimum 14.4 kb/s modem or better (28.8 or higher is recommended)
Sound card/chip (full duplex recommended) with microphone and speakers.
Working Internet network account.
How Do I Sign Up?
Signing up is easy. Hotcaller asks you to do is fill out a membership application which takes about 5 to 7 minutes to complete. This application tells Hotcaller what your interests are and that will let us deliver messages to you that you are most likely to find interesting, entertaining and relevant. Once you have submitted your application we will e-mail you confirming that we have received it and is being processed. Then, as soon as possible, we will e-mail you your activated PIN so that you can start using the Hotcaller service.
Do I need To Download any Software?
Yes, you have to download the software that will allow you to talk over the Internet. This is absolutely free and takes a few minutes
Is there a limit on the number of minutes I can talk?
No, you can talk as long as you want. It all depends on the number of messages you view.
What type of Internet connection should I have?
28.8 or higher is recommended
Once I register what happens when I re-enter the site later?
Upon registering you will be assigned a PIN (Personal Identification Number). Each time you visit the site you will be asked if you are a member. You can then enter your PIN and proceed to view the messages to make your long distance calls.
Is the quality of the call as good as a normal telephone call?
Surprising to most people, if you have a good Internet connection then the sound quality is comparable to a regular phone call. However the sound quality varies between applications. In nearly all cases, the limiting factor will not be the speed and capacity of the Internet, but will depend on the local connection at each end. If you have a good local network connection then some applications give sound quality significantly better than a regular telephone call because they use 16 bit signals rather than 8 bit signals in regular phone lines.
Can anyone in the world make free long distance calls?
Yes, as long as they are hooked up to the Internet, have the necessary computer equipment and download the software. They can then call any person who has a regular telephone in any of the countries that Innofone services.
How do I know when the call is about to end?
You will hear a brief warning tone 30 seconds before the call is to end..
Can someone else in my family use my PIN number?
As you are aware the sponsors of these messages pay for these free calls. This "Long Distance For Free" concept will only work if the advertiser can target the messages to the people who are interested in their products and services. For example: if a mother and her teenage son are both using the service, the mother would not be interested, nor would she want to waste her time, viewing messages that would appeal to the teenaged son. So it is to the advantage of all parties that each person registers and obtain their own PIN number.
Will I ever receive a bill for the long distance calls that I make?
Absolutely not. This is a free service, provided by the companies whose messages you view. You will never receive a bill for these calls.
Privacy
It is Hot Caller's policy to respect the privacy of its members. HotCaller will not monitor, edit, or disclose any personal information about you, without your prior permission unless HotCaller has a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of HotCaller; (3) enforce the Terms Of Service; or (4) act to protect the interests of its members or others. HotCaller does provide certain user information in aggregate form to third parties, including its advertisers, for demographics.
