G'day all - seppo & George, thx for the article. I guess one has to accept Mr Segal's conclusion if one accepts his premises. Here lies the difficulties in my mind. If existing markets and military powers are the only major factors, yes, one has to agree. OTOH, the immediate cause of WWI was that of the assassination of an archduke. The more memorable Asian Flu began in Thailand. If these past events have such international repercussion, one has to wonder how good it is to apply isolationist worldview in the world today, when the internet is expanding at such a high rate [no scientific data, but I think most people would agree.] So, does China matter, or any country, for that matter, must be seen, IMHO, from the perspective of current global dynamics.
