You more than strain credulity with that one. Do you actually mean that LU had to stand idly by for almost 10 days all the while forbidden to give the advice which would end (but not correct) the problem?

MCI/WCOM has lost customers but

The outage could also be a blow for Lucent, which has been pushing to win more of MCI WorldCom's business since Lucent, the world's largest phone-equipment maker, was spun off from MCI rival AT&T three years ago. Of the four data networks for these services that MCI WorldCom operates, this is the only one that uses Lucent equipment and the only one that lost service.

"Lucent has acknowledged full responsibility," Ebbers said. He declined to comment on what compensation MCI WorldCom may seek from the company. Lucent officials declined to comment.

I wonder how much compensation WCOM will exact, enough to offset its losses? If they just want to save face there is always the possibility of other vendors.
