Although I don't like to see folks let go, this should be a piece of cake compared to what IBM did back in the late '80's and early '90's. IBM went from an employee count of 400k+ in 1985 to a low of 215k in the early 1990's. Almost 200,000 yep, that's TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND employees left, retired, or were fired over that time period... I live in the Hudson Valley, which had three plants employing around 32,000 as I recall. Today, there are two plants with around 12,000... IBM dragged it's feet way too long which got them into the hot water that led to the change in management back in 1993. CPQ better do it quick...
