While I feel for you on your losses, it sounds as if you can at least afford them (your portfolio dropped 4.8% in value?). I feel a lot worse for those who couldn't.

One way to look at it, I guess, the longs sitting around the roulette table were betting on black, and guess what, red came up.

Or even yet another perspective, the longs were betting with the House, and the House lost. Quite unusual for the House!!
