CH- Ouch, now you are talking about one of my most favorite books here! I loved "Pilgram at Tinker Creek". I still chuckle at the story of the NR guy who loved animals so much that when he was bit by a weasel (might have been a muskrat) who would not let go of his hand no matter how much he pleaded with it, he walked a couple of miles (with the thing still attached to his hand) to a pond to stick the weasel and his arm in the water to "soak it off like a label"
