Speaking of government intervention in the markets, it will be interesting to see how the Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and others handle it when this market eventually collapses. I recall reading the article in the Washington Post about the "Plunge Protection Team" last year.

If you want an idea of how the Federal Reserve intervened during the 1987 market crash, here's an obscure paper that the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank put out about the subject:
