Hello

Just spoke with Sedona's Pamela Vanderslice - a January newcomer to the product marketing and support division. She will be hiring a couple other folks to help her - primarily at this time with the marketing of SRV+ - perhaps later - DMTool. She again explained the last few months of commercializing SRV+ and how it was now time to just go out at do the hard work of calling and getting customer feedback. ESRI did do a joint mailer with them (2400 customers) - and they are just starting to get feedback - they have also contracted for a telemarketing effort for the product and are looking to develop more of a web presence on the product - but resources are fairly tied up with other projects so far. She feels that the ESRI exposure and marketing efforts should help Sedona - even if the SRV+ inclusion is not a major part of the ARC-INFO product. They are happy to take whatever advertising benefits come their way (cheaply) as a result of Sun's or ESRI's efforts - particularly since the connection to SUN is relatively minor. Sedona is basically just jumping on the band wagon here. She felt that it was too early to fairly asess the results of the SRV+ commercialization and marketing.

From my perspective we must also bear in mind that the software sales for 97 are not projected to be over 1 million (if I recall the projections correctly) Its the data sales that are supposed to generate the bigger revenues.

Of more interest to me was the noticable pickup of enthusiasm when we started to speak of the GII97 (standards stuff) NIMA contract awards which should be announced in April. I told her that the submission design looked like it was written by Sedona - she said they were all quite excited about this - and expected any success there to seriously ignite this company.
