Charred - I am interested in your contention that Barrick is responsible for fixing social problems. Unless things have changed Barrick is an enlightened employer - this dates right back to the Camflo days. Also while you are right about about ABX not spending 1 Billion in Peru itself, its stake in Peru cost $1 billion, if your figures are correct. Also in reporting the unrest in this area I wonder if you are familiar enough with the local issues to pin the blame on Barrick? You say that Peru didn't receive a thing - aren't you forgetting the jobs at the mine - or do they not count? d
