Jim, good post. Seems to me that the arguments against G* come mainly from people that view the world differently from the longs and of course we hope/believe they're wrong. For me, the world is both smaller and bigger than most G* bears believe. Smaller in the sense that knowledge of and desire for western mod con's is nearly universal; larger in the sense that the expense entailed with bringing good comm capabilities to many regions of the world is so large that it will never happen in our lifetimes, even if there was no logical and nearly in place satellite alternative solution.

Somewhat unrelated, but it occurs to me that a piece of "low hanging fruit" for N. American G* SPs will be in states like Colorado and Montana. I remember reading that significant parts of these states are being carved into "ranchettes" ranging in size from 10-1000 acres. Robert Redford wannabes living in or maintaining households there will gladly afford G* service to and have no practical alternative, IMO.
