In the 1950's, the Red Chinese communists systematically rounded up a good number of lamas (Tibetan priests) and tortured them in an attempt to force them to denounce the Dalai Lama and to eschew all that they had been taught and all that they had learnt.

It was reported that some of the lamas (notably the elderly ones and the "adepts") DEMATERIALISED themselves into thin air right under the noses of their would be torturers! The Red Chinese authorities were simply stunned but chose not to publicise the disappearing acts for rather obvious reasons.

Imagine some lamas were able to vanish in an instant! Dis a rift in the space-time continuum occur? If so, how did the lamas exploit this?
