Ignore the more specific books of areas and read the general stuff.

Geology and Ore deposits of the Sudbury Structure

OGS Special volume 1.

ISBN 7743-9423-4

Wanapatei is the so called "magnetic shadow" of Sudbury. It is underlain by diabase and the like at depth according to ddh info.. It may be intrusive. It also hilites the ENE trend of the mafics into Quebec which is associated with the Grenville front and some cu-zn deposits south of Cobalt and Senneterre.

Wanapatei has some good gold and other types of deposits and has been ignored except for some desultory exploration by companies like Flag resources. It has difficulty of access and some gov't interference too.

My theory is sudbury is a felsic pyroclastic related sedimentary basin with some intrusion and some sea bed related mineralization. Some of the Sudbury Ore bodies may be volcanigenic, laid down at the sea/seabed interface by active vents. If you read the Sudbury book you will see I am not alone in this theory although Naldrett may argue otherwise. The Vermillion CU-ZN deposit may not be such an anomaly in the structure after all.
