Here is the Buyingedge simple 5 step process would you do this to buy a $100 item or even a $500 item
Step 1: Searching for a product.
Step 2: Selecting vendors.
Step 3: Making a price request.
Step 4: Checking vendor replies.
Step 5: Making a purchase or requesting more information.

Remember that there are plenty of price comparision tools out there for products existing in inventory that does not need the manual request for bid process. Those will do a better job for interet typical goods, and other goods will continue to avoid the UPS delivery system and consumer will continue to shop in stores. Believe it or not.
