Another way of looking at it, is if you put 6 Ascend switches side by sid e, you will equal one of NNs. ( Does LU tell that to their customers?
TA, I'm not sure what your comparing here. NN has no switch now that supports anything near 160Gb/s. They are readying a 50Gb/s switch for later this year. They currently ship a 36170 switch which is mainly used in edge applications, but also doubles as a core switch for some smaller carriers. This is a 12Gb/s switch.
The Ascend 25Gb/s switch has been shipping to customers for 18 months. It is mainly a core switch, but will most certainly be moving more toward the edge, whenever Ascend releases the follow on to this box, which I imagine would be at least 50Gb/s, but I have no firm data on this. But the fact is, the 550 has been shipping for 18 months, and I doubt Ascend is standing still.
Finally, I'm not pumping LU here. I am long NN, and have no position in LU, but I do like to see facts posted.
