<There is one overriding point to be made... for now and <the near foreseeable future, the majority of AOL's <customers will be dial-up. Conversely, ATHM's customers <are now and will always be cable.

I want to follow thru with this remark... for every BB "believer" that Excite gains thru the cable hookup and content... that will be another user that will be slow to migrate to another portal other than the "future" Excite.

This could "sneak up " on AOL. They are at an inflection point... if they make an error... they end up as an "also-ran". This is the reason for all of the "open access" hand-wringing at AOL... the majority of their subscriber base dictates that they can't make the move to broadband... yet, in a very real sense, they must make the move.
