there's only so much energy, one doesn't want to waste it arguing with impossible people.... Or impossible situations. The box situation usually ends up with "it depends on x(sorry, X), and then another stipulation, then it depends on y, and then another stipulation, and by the time you squeeze the answer out that you want, the whole thing is ridiculous. People don't like the idea of forcing anyone to surrender control of their own reproductive system. You create a hypothetical situation designed to force them into admitting that there are conceivable situations where this might be acceptable. They resist; you constrict the stipulations to a point where they either say what you want them to say or leave the discussion. What have you learned? That the idea of forcing someone to surrender control of their reproductive system is, in all but the most wildly artificial circumstances, anathema to most of us? Didn't you already know that? Do you need to ask why?
