Shares issued 62,165,317 Aug 20 close $45.00
Mon 23 Aug 99 In the News
The National Post reports in its Saturday edition that two-way wireless
technology manufacturer Research In Motion Ltd. has vaulted off a series of
announcements to a 52-week intraday high of $45.45. On Monday, RIM
confirmed it is in early talks to have its two-way E-mail pagers branded
and sold to Dell Computer Corp. It followed up with an announcement on
Wednesday of its first deal with an Internet service provider, agreeing to
sell its pagers to RCN Corp. Then on Thursday the company announced a deal
to sell its pagers to Telcel Cellular in Venezuela, the first deal it has
announced outside North America. The announcements prompted Scotia Capital
Markets analyst Michael Urlocker to upgrade the stock to a "strong buy"
from a "hold" with a 52-week share price of $50 a share. RIM's share price
has risen 67.3 per cent in the past eight days.
