Hi Pat,

I don't see the relevance of size of ATM core switches in what started as a software reliability discussion re: LU and MCI, but I digress.

My 2 cents as follows:

Problems will occur in fast growing networks. Problems will definately occur in networks using disparate vendors. What astounded me the most on the recent MCI failure was that it took 10 days to fix the problem. The CSCO/AT@T outage was fixed in 24 hours. I think this will ultimately hurt LU the most in future network bids.

The technology keeps leap-frogging each other. Having the fastest switch or the lowest cost per port is a temporary advantage if that. Having robust software and a team prepared to stand behind it's products will win the next phase of the internet explosion.

On another note, what are investors to look for in the NN report tomorrow ? Are they expected to announce any new wins ? Is NN's LMDS solution now generating revenue ?

TIA,

peppe
