What does the press have to do with it? I'm in a post-Clinton mindset, looking forward, and trying to debate what should be done next, and who is the best candidate. I'm not being suckered by anyone or anything. I've already proved that the press is not the all-powerful bogeyman some would like it to be by pointing out that Americans have acted very independently of the liberal media by electing Republicans to lead both houses of Congress, the vast majority of Governorships, the mayor's office in New York City, etc., etc. It's too facile to say, "the press isn't fair, so let's circle the wagons and excuse everything." In my mind it's country first, partisan politics second. And if GWB is the wrong man for the job we should say so, even if the press does nothing but hound him 24 hours a day, and even if Clinton admits to being the Zodiac killer on national TV. All of these things are independent of each other to those who first want what's best for the country. |
