Pat, thanks. As to scalability, from 50 to 320, I hope its a better solution than Ascend uses to scale from 25 to 100. As I understand it, they simply trunk 4 links across four fabric boards. So yes, the ability to switch 100Gb/s of data is there, but so is a 4x latency. Hence, they don't sell much (or any) of this configuration, but they can put "scales to 100Gb/s" in their literature.
A true 320Gb/s low latency ATM fabric, would be a true acheivement, if it actually comes to pass. ASAIK, FORE currently owns the highest true ATM fabric throughput at 40Gb/s.
IMO, right now, it takes 25Gb/s to play in the core of the major carriers. And these guys will be looking for 50 to 100 over the next 12-24 months. This should position NN well, should they deliver on time.
