Mercury finalizes licensing agreement with British Airways

The company has signed a formal licensing agreement with British Airways
Regional for Mercury's flagship Magellan software system and its Nova and
Nova OnLine products.
According to Mercury's president and chief executive officer, Graham
Whitmarsh, British Airways Regional is the first tier-one airline to
license Mercury's full suite of crew management systems, marking a
significant milestone for the company.
"We are very pleased to add British Airways Regional to our growing number
of customer airlines," Mr. Whitmarsh said. "The installation of our
products is on schedule and we expect to have Magellan fully operational by
the fall of 1999."
Mercury's next-generation Magellan product is a real-time decision support
system for tracking crew on the day-of-operations. By providing real-time
visibility to solve crew scheduling problems, Magellan significantly
reduces an airline's overall operating costs and disruptions.
Mercury's Nova system is a complete crew planning system that quickly
generates crew assignments for the next period's flight operations. The
system is currently being used to manage pilots and flight and cabin crew
on British Airways Regional fleet out of EuroGatwick. The airline has also
licensed Mercury's Nova OnLine system, an Internet-based crew bidding
system that permits crew to enter their roster preferences over the
Internet.
British Airways Regional will operate Mercury's integrated suite of crew
management systems at its EuroHub, serving Birmingham, Manchester and
Glasgow. Mercury's products will manage flight and cabin crew for the
entire British Airways Regional Boeing 737 and new Airbus A319 fleets.
