More than one projection shows the Aussie's becoming the largest Ni producers very early next century. I believe Cawse is the projected low cost producer? Why do you think INCO has $50 mill into Goro? People can bury their heads in the sand if they want but this technology will be made to work, it may take a couple of years but it will work. The downside for EW/SX that I see is that the costs of producing Nickel are very dependant on the price of Cobalt wheras (is that a word?) the sulphide producers have a much wider range of metal credits to lean on.
I think the eventual success of HPAL will drive down the price of Cobalt and ergo self regulate the amount of HPAL plants in operation?
