Sounds like chiles jalapeno and pequin. A fine combination. When I have the time, I like to roast my own Pasilla, Guahillo, Serrano, and New Mexico chiles. It is best to evacuate the house first if you do this indoors. The Guahillo chiles can be very hard to find, but they have a uniquely rich smoky flavor. There are many spellings of 'guahillo' that seem to be used interchangeably.
