It really is remarkable what people are able to convince themselves of. I, personally, am doing my darndest to convince myself that it's actually a good idea to buy stocks, as they seem to always go up, and all this P/E and A/D stuff doesn't matter anymore. It's not working, though. My husband, who has a 403(b) - which is like a 401(k) for government employees, keeps giving me looks every time the market goes up - I begged him to take some of his money out of the stock fund and put it into the money market, so he did, but I think it's still 40% stocks, and he isn't happy with me.
