I don't thing any big money is going to move back into Boca, Zoom, or Diamond until there is at least some anecdotal evidence that they can sell their modems, K56Flex or otherwise. One has to look no further than their last quarterly filings to see that they can not sell any modems, plus they face problems with obsolete channel inventory. There is still no material deployment on the ISP side, and thus no inducement for the users to buy their flavor modem.

Meanwhile, x2 based modems are flying off of the shelves, and more x2 ISPs are going live every day. USR just announced availability of the Sportster upgrades a couple of hours ago. That's the big issue to watch: USR has huge leverage from of the existing installed base of both clien and server modems, while the Consortium has little or none. That's going to be a huge obstacle to be overcome in the coming months, as Consortium based ISps wait for Consortium based users, and vice versa.

You asked for ideas, there's mine.
