Those comments you cited on Yahoo were referring to Iridium subscribers, not G*.
Keep preparing for a delayed rollout everyone. Once again, Airtouch is pushing ever so slowly to the right. First mention of 2000. "Soft rollout" for October with Geneva Telecom. You just can't roll without a handset. So, get as hyped up as you want, but there are not going to be real numbers on minutes used until Q2 2000. There are not enough handsets to give us much of an indication in the year 1999. That 35,000 at startup is suspect in my opinion, and if Loral is true to form, they won't have 75,000 by end 99, or a rate of 40,000 per month at that point. Does that make sense? Can you go from a supposed 35,000 in September to 75,000 at end 99, which is a rate of 13,000 per month to 40,000 per month, just like that? I doubt it. Reduce your expectations because I think it's coming. Where are our beta tests? They should be in full swing by now. It's now 6 weeks until Geneva Telecom and I have not spoken with a single beta tester. It all adds up to the big shove to the right. The more you shove, the more cash gets burned, and the more likely it is that G* will need to raise more money. You can forget the new president. And where is our new partner in Brazil? |
