Since you are not in a position to verify or critique everything independently, you are continually trusting people, not merely to run the planes, trains, and taxis that get you around, but to tell you "this is Morocco; this is Marrakesh; this language is called Arabic; this building is a mosque, and it is used for this purpose" and so on. Whatever news sources you use, you are trusting some people to accumulate and interpret facts for your use; whatever broker you use, you are trusting some people to give you the straight dope on the market, and to follow your instructions, and deal fairly with you. The man on the streetcorner who gives you directions to downtown in a strange city is an oracle; the map makers at Rand- MacNally are a committee of Nostradamuses; you are heeding authority everytime you call "time" to reset your clocks.
