GIFT looks interesting, but I have so many questions. For instance, the co. has settled with 5 others--Adobe, 1st Virtual, Vocaltec, CD Max, Micropatent--and IBM bought a license outright. $10,000 is a good an arbitrary figures as the next--which would mean about $60,000 in this year's revenues. Of course, that will increase as media attention focuses on the Compuserve trial. But if that trial lasts several years, and if the patent expires in 2003, then what sort of window will GIFT have to actually enforce it, assuming they win? Any ideas? Smoke and mirrors, or the real thing?
