There were a couple of other quotes that surprised me in the Forbes article:

"For now the
target is at most 10,000 customers by
year-end, only half of what Iridium has"

"But customers of
Gilat Satellite Networks of Israel are already
buying fixed phones tied to geostationary
satellites (which hover 23,500 miles above
the earth, versus 850 miles for Globalstar).
The quality is uneven, but calls cost just 15
cents a minute. "

ICO Global
Communications withdrew a $500 million
rights offering in late July but raised the
money from large investors.

The third statement is just wrong as far as I know. The first statement would represent more "mission creep" since June when 12K average subs for the 4th Qtr were projected. Is it now 10K by the end of the quarter? As for Gilat and 15 cents/minute, I wonder if the article is confusing cost with price? Between what two points and on what satellite can you call at a price of 15 cents/minute?
