I just spoke with one of my broker friends today. He was very bullish on GMST. 1) Patent suits vs. TV Guide and General Instruments 2) The interactive TV Chip (currently in newer TV sets) as being a portal to television in much the same way that the search engines on the net are many people's portals to the internet. The only catch is that while the avg. time on the Internet is 3 hours/day, avg. TV is on was 7 hours a day, and since the day of 500 cable channels (Will this ever be reality?) are coming, you will need a vehicle capable of browsing them and displaying information intelligently, hence Gemstar's interactive guide. 3) The advertising potential of said chip. Right now only NBC and ABC are in on it, but you know that CBS and some of the other major networks (cable too) aren't going to sit there and be left out. Anyone else have any thoughts on GMST? I'd love to hear them. Big Kahuna
