I think the segmentation strategy - seperating consumer and business and Server CPUs - was a solid marketing idea. I think Intel's marketing team deserves kudos on that one.

However, the whole Celeron/PII/PIII segmentation was a cynical scam on Intel's part. I call cynical because Intel is selling virtually similar performance product in three different segments by three different names with the hope that no one will catch it. However, even non-technical folks are slowly catching up to it.
