Here's an emploee news letter from SAIC:This news letter was just delivered to its emploees which include Bellcore. < YEAR 2000 SUPPORT FOR HMO. SAIC will help 8 business units of the CIGNA health maintenance organization solve their Year 2000 problem under a new 2-year contract worth up to $20 million. Companies worldwide are scrambling to modify computer programs that record the year using only two digits; such programs may have difficulty responding to a year noted as "00". As a sub to Alydaar, a Charlotte, N.C.-based software product vendor, SAIC has placed a software "factory" on-site at SIGNA's Bloomfield, Conn. facility. According to senior Program Manager Dan Looper, once SAIC has identified the data processing problems, we will provide automated remediation services to correct the application code. The process will involve 50-100 million lines of code, or about 60% of SIGNA's total code base. This is SAIC's second major Year 2000 contract this year; the first came from Mobil Oil.
