Jeffrey: Excellent points. Newbridge won much of the RBOCs first generation ATM switching.contracts but thats not the way its going lately. As an example at SBC the NN core switches are being replaced with Fujitso and the edge switch business seems to be going elsewhere also. Although I'm long on NN, don't let their early successes in the domestic market mislead you. The big "massive deployment" contracts are not in the bag and , at least in the US it seems unlikely that NN will maintain the clearly dominate position they once held.
