The recent ($25 Billion) intervention by Japan failed, so I would think the "break" to be in the opposite direction. On the other hand, I do agree that your result is the one that everyone in the First World wants, so maybe they'll come up with something.

At the same time, if the Oil producers succeed in striking a blow for the third world, as they did in the 70's, strains in the financial system will show in the dollar first. In short, I'm wishy washy on this, that's why I asked.
