Steve, the original statement that started this discussion was something to the effect that Merced performed at about 90% of the HP machine at 440MHz. It was not clear what was meant by that. Consider this, Merced will execute HP binaries as well as x86 binaries and it's own Merced native binaries. When the person said that Merced performed at 90% of the HP @440MHz nobody seems to know exactly what was meant. Did they mean Merced executing the same HP binaries? Did they mean the Merced was also running at 440MHz? Was the Merced executing Merced binaries and if so was it only at 440MHz? Was it Merced executing Merced binaries @ 700MHz? Was it Merced executing HP binaries @ 700MHz? There is no clarification. That's the point.
