About the trace capacitance stuff, I wasn't talking about length of traces and was assuming minimum widths. Maybe I wasn't being clear in what I was trying to say. You are correct as you describe it, but the issue is so simple that it does not warrant more discussion.

I was trying to point out that traces have become many times taller than they are wide, and capacitance between traces on the same layer is much more of an issue. Copper can alleviate this by making traces thinner (not narrower).
