Bad Y2K Fix Sends Travelers On Wild Goose Chases (UK)

<< Travelers at Manchester Airport in England have been getting the run-around while officials work their Y2K fixes. Installation of a new Y2K-compliant computer program resulted in incorrect information being posted on display screens in the airport terminal. Misinformation included incorrect information on arrival times, which baggage carousels were being used for picking up luggage, and where passengers were supposed to check in for flights. Airport and airline workers had to use the public address system to announce every departure and put up hand-written notices to update flight information. Some passengers have reportedly missed flights because of the errant information. The problems began last month, ironically, on the very same day that the British Civil Airport Authority announced that all UK airports were ready for Y2K. >>
