Frankly, I'm appalled at the question, lol.

I'd say it depends on whether the contrarians in question are just mean and nasty, or rather just differing from the mainline view.

One can be contrary to anything if one is pi$$y enough. On the other hand, if the mainline view is made up of say 30% bulls for example, the remaining 70% might still be considered contrarian if the way their bearishness is contrived differs from the mainline in percentages of less than 30%. Hence, and therefore, thusly, we implore the differential, tangential effect of a dog rubbing his nose in a puddle of his own doing....negating the positive effects of relieving an earlier irritating condition with a more contrary view by the dogs owner as this puddle as a negative, rather than positive event (as viewed by the dog.)
