[World DRAM Prices] DIMM Prices Rise Sharply
August 25, 1999 (TOKYO) -- The rolling average prices of 64Mb DRAMs for large users finished the 30-day period from July 8 to Aug. 6, 1999 at US$5.97 in North America, US$5.33 in Europe and US$5.81 in Asia.



The world DRAM price survey was conducted by ICIS-LOR, which is based in London, Houston and Singapore.

Compared to the 30-day rolling average up to July 30, 1999, North America had a 3.49 percent decrease and Europe a 4.52 percent decrease, but Asia had a 0.99 percent increase.

As for memory modules, the spot price of a 64MB dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs, PC100) rose 9.51 percent week-on-week to US$43.07 in North America, and rose 7.68 percent to US$45.59 in Europe and also rose 8.93 percent to US$47.14 in Asia.

The 30-day rolling average of 64MB DIMMs on the spot market shot up in each area. There was a sharp increase of 9.51 percent in North America. Similarly, it rose 7.68 percent in Europe and 8.93 percent in Asia. The prices recovered to late-May levels in each area.
