Westminster Places Slave Point Discovery Well On Production
CALGARY, ALBERTA--Westminster Resources Ltd. is pleased to report that its previously announced Slave Point discovery well was placed on production on August 22, 1999. The well ``Shell Westminster Chinchaga 10-18-97-8W6' is producing approximately 900 BOEPD consisting of 800 BOPD of 48 degree API sweet crude oil and 1 mmcf/d of natural gas. Westminster has a 50 percent interest in the well.

The well was drilled in the spring of 1999 to a true vertical depth of 7660' with a horizontal section of 2667' in the Slave Point Formation. Testing was delayed until mid-June due to extremely wet conditions in the field. Following an acid stimulation and clean-up treatment, the well was production - tested and then shut-in for a 30 day pressure survey.

During the 5 day production test the well produced 3600 barrels of oil through various choke sizes. The well has been pipelined to a nearby processing facility. The current production rate for the well is limited by plant processing capacity. An application for an MRL (Maximum Rate Limitation) to establish production allowables will be filed with the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board.

Westminster Resources Ltd. is a Canadian company engaged in exploration, development and production of natural gas and oil. Westminster's common shares are listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol ``WML'.
