Methanex Corporation - In the News Succ Inv says sell Methanex Methanex Corporation MX Shares issued 173,136,748 Aug 11 close $4.15 Fri 13 Aug 99 In the News The Successful Investor says in its August issue that Methanex ($4.50-Aug. 11) is now viewed as a sell at that price. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has endorsed California's ban on methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), due to health concerns. Editor Patrick McKeough had thought the EPA would ban gasoline leaks instead of supporting California's ban of MTBE, because it makes more scientific sense. That, however, would force gas stations in poor areas to close, a politically unacceptable decision. MTBE accounts for 30 per cent of methanol use, so the ban will hurt prices.
